In the light of global trends in the field of energy saving, energy release heat from the external modules of refrigerators simply to the atmosphere is considered a reckless waste of money and resources. Heat from commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment can be used for heating and hot water supply using recuperators. The heating season in Ukraine lasts 6 months. During this period, large supermarkets, restaurants, canteens, food processing plants and other production facilities that use efficient refrigeration equipment spend huge amounts of money on heating and hot water for domestic hot water. A heat recovery system can reduce these costs by at least 40-50%, and in some cases eliminate them altogether. Devices for heat recovery from cooling aggregates allow not to reduce the energy consumption of the aggregates, but to use waste heat energy for other purposes. This is the economic effect of introducing recuperators.
Principle of operation and types of heat recovery systems
From a thermodynamic point of view, there are 2 ways to extract heat from the condenser of a refrigeration machine:
In the first case, another heat exchanger must be installed in the refrigerant circuit. This allows you to use up to 20% of the heat dissipated by the refrigerator. At the same time, the use of superheated compressed refrigerant allows air or water to be heated up to 80-90 ° C. The second option allows you to remove much more heat energy. However, this heat will have a low potential, i.e. the heating of air or water can only be up to 30 ° C. The simplest version uses 2 manually switched capacitors – one outside for warmer seasons and one for winter. In more extensive versions, automatic control and one condenser with multi-directional heat dissipation channels are used – to the heat exchanger or outside. One of the innovative solutions implemented by Ralco Technic was the heat recovery and utilization system with the transcritical circulation of carbon dioxide. Such CO2 recuperators make it possible to heat water to high temperatures (above 80 ° C) with subsequent use for heating, hot water supply or for technological purposes.
